While sorting through old papers tonight, I found these quotes from Rainer Maria Rilke, which I think are really beautiful.
Love is something difficult and it is more difficult than other things because in other conflicts nature herself enjoins men to collect themselves, to take themselves firmly in the hand with all their strength, while in the heightening of love the impulse is to give oneself wholly away. (from Letters to a Young Poet)
...let happy memories sustain you if your strength fails you, they are always there, and their current does not run backwards, even across foggy country it floats toward the future. (from Selected Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke)
