Madison Visit

I just spent a few days visiting my sister Erica and her husband Jake in Madison, Wisconsin. They have been married and lived there for almost 3 years, and bought a house last year, so it was high time I go and check it out!

The weather wasn't the greatest, in fact, the days before I got there were in the 70s, but when I got there it got about 30 degrees cooler. We had a good time anyway! On Saturday we checked out the Farmer's Market and bought some squeaky cheese curds. They weren't kidding about the squeakiness! We also went to the arboretum to see the magnolia trees blooming, and went to see the Epic office where Jake works. The hospital I work at is currently in the process of switching over to computerized charting with the Epic program, so it was cool to see where it all comes from. The building is insane, with art everywhere, and all kinds of different themes throughout the different buildings. One of my favorite rooms we saw was the conference room that was themed like the Arctic or something, with fur covered benches, little penguin figures in the corner, lights that looked like ice, and all kinds of other stuff.

Throughout the rest of the weekend we shopped (poor Jake didn't like spending much time in the soap store!), watched movies, ate good food, went to their church, and hung out with a couple of Erica and Jake's friends.

The movies we watched were Once, Nacho Libre (well, just the best parts and the special features), and Best in Show. Once was really enjoyable. I am really impressed by the musicians/actors. It was a really unique and well done movie. Nacho Libre is just crazy! It has a pretty lame plot line, but the characters are hilarious, especially Nacho himself.
